Speedco M2 Disc Frame

Speedco M2 Disc Frame

You've asked the question, "what's different on the M2 Pro vs the M2 Pro Disc?" Here's your answers:

  1. Both the M2 Pro & the M2 Pro Disc frames are disc brake compatible.
  2. The Disc Model comes equipped with the axle hardware for mounting your disc brake caliper, where the standard Pro model would need the adapter purchased aftermarket.
  3. The disc model is internally routed from front of top-tube to rear of seat-stay exiting right at the brake caliper for clean aesthetic. The standard Pro model is not internally routed.
  4. The Disc model does not have caliper brake posts on the seat-stay where the Standard pro model does.
  5. The Disc model is only available in stealth Black/Gray where the standard Pro model is available in 3 color-ways.

Our M2 line of alloy frames are aesthetically designed to replicate our Flagship model, the Velox Carbon. The custom 7005 series alloy tubeset on the M2 frames are heat treated and double butted for weight reduction and increased strength. The down-tube on the M2 line is oversized and tapered slightly throughout the sizes to enhance response and insure that riders of all sizes benefit from the maximum rigidity for their body weight. The chain-stay width follows suit as these bikes were built to sprint, and peak performance out of the gate and corners under high power output is top priority in the M2. Lastly, an integrated chain tensioner system is seamless throughout the 16 sizes in the M2 line and will keep the rear wheel locked in under the highest wattage output you can only dream of. Do you have what it takes to put the most responsive alloy bike you’ve ever ridden through it’s proper paces?

BB86 – There are 3 popular bottom bracket standards for BMX – euro, BB30, and BB86. A euro is a threaded BB, the shell is 68mm wide and it uses 24mm (92mm total) of outboard bearings and a 24mm crank spindle. A BB30 is similar, 68mm shell but promotes a larger crank spindle (30mm) therefore a larger spindle to flex the same narrow bottom bracket junction. The M2 Alloy uses a BB86 which is a 86mm BB shell and press-fit bearings that equal 4mm added to the 86mm shell (92mm total) while using a 24mm spindle. The advantage to our BB is the wider down-tube and chain-stay described above. Rigidity is key for first straight pull and accelerating out of turns, while a flimsy frame will just get you cut off out of the gate.

10/15mm dropout – The dropout on the M2 Alloy is all about efficiency. With an integrated chain tensioner through the front of the dropout, the need to over-tighten your wheel has been eliminated. Each dropout uses two flex-free 4mm adapters to insure your wheel isn’t gonna move regardless of how many horses you’re putting down first pedal.

Tapered head tube – The standard for high-end race frames is a tapered head tube. A tapered head tube uses a 1-1/8” top bearing and a 1.5” bottom bearing and allows us to use a fork both lighter and stronger than ever before.

Tubeset- The M2 features a fully double-butted 7005-aluminum tube set. The massive down-tube tapers 52mm to 72mm top to bottom, which eliminates flex and allows your power to be efficiently converted to speed as you accelerate from the gate, and corners.
