KMC master link for Z410 chains and most all BMX single speed Chains

Once you determine the length of your chain use this link to connect the chain to the bike. You can also connect a chain with a chain tool and not use a master link. The master link can be used if you want to be able to break the chain fairly easily. Most road bikes do not use a master link. You can not use a 1/8" master link on a 3/32 chain. This is because its too wide to glide smoothly through the gears and derailleur pulley's.

New replacement chains usually have too many links and you have to cut them with a chain breaking tool to the desired length. Usually the original chain you are replacing is the correct length.

When cutting or breaking a chain you will want to use a quality chain breaker tool. The cheaper tools make the job much harder and the tool often breaks under the pressure.

The Shadow or Odyssey or Kink chain tools are all quality and work well for all 1/8" BMX standard and half link chain.

Choose a quality chain tool for multi speed Road and mountain bike chains as well.
