Pegs
Bicycle BMX Pegs are installed on your bike axles so that you can do tricks. Steel pegs are best for grinding and for use in the street or skatepark. Most common pegs are Steel. Some bike pegs have aluminum inner core and steel outer. This makes the lightweight and good for grinding. All aluminum pegs are good for flatland trick riding. Lots of companies make pegs like Odyssey, Cult, Demolition, Fit, Colony, Blackops, Mission, Kink and many others. Pegs are made of metal or plastic. The plastic ones are nice and light but only work well on smoother surfaces like the coping on a bike ramp. Metal pegs last longer but are heavier and cost more. These have replaceable sleeves. Pegs are usually added on to your bike but some freestyle specif bikes do include a pair or two of foot pegs.
Most pegs are installed one on the front wheel and one on the rear. Since most freestyle bikes have a 10mm front axle and a 14mm rear you need pegs that are either the right size for your axle or include adapters. Some cheaper bikes have pegs that thread onto the axle. The better-quality pegs are installed with a deep socket wrench under your axle nut. Axle Pegs tend to loosen up when used so companies have installed a anti-rotation pin in the peg. This way they don't loosen up easily. Lots of hardcore BMX freestyle riders carry tools with them so they can service the bike on location. Because of this required service, some bike manufactures have made a special tool that is multi-purpose. This tool is small and easily carried in your Odyssey Backpack.
